Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Real Estate, Metals and Public Sector Undertakings sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 fell 1.02%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 1.04%.
The best performers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Eicher Motors Ltd. (NSE:EICH), which rose 2.68% or 160.50 points to trade at 6,151.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (NSE:HLL) added 2.36% or 62.20 points to end at 2,693.80 and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NSE:MRTI) was up 1.89% or 273.00 points to 14,725.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Shriram Finance Ltd. (NSE:SHMF), which fell 4.00% or 24.85 points to trade at 596.00 at the close. Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NSE:SUN) declined 3.36% or 55.70 points to end at 1,601.00 and Tata Steel Ltd (NSE:TISC) was down 2.87% or 4.58 points to 155.05.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which rose 2.35% to 2,691.45, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) which was up 1.85% to settle at 14,725.50 and ITC Ltd (BO:ITC) which gained 0.90% to close at 403.00.
The worst performers were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 3.15% to 1,604.55 in late trade, Tata Steel Ltd (BO:TISC) which lost 2.88% to settle at 155.00 and Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:BJFN) which was down 2.41% to 878.80 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1910 to 507 and 32 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2720 fell and 1178 advanced, while 130 ended unchanged.

(NSE:MRTI) rose to all time highs; rising 1.89% or 273.00 to 14,725.00. Shares in Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:MRTI) rose to all time highs; rising 1.85% or 267.35 to 14,725.50.
The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 3.44% to 12.16.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.09% or 3.15 to $3,414.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.64% or 1.06 to hit $63.74 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.47% or 1.00 to trade at $67.22 a barrel.
USD/INR was up 0.09% to 87.67, while EUR/INR rose 0.24% to 102.06.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 98.20.
