Australia stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/ASX 200 up 0.28%

Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Gold, Metals & Mining and Materials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 gained 0.28%.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Lovisa Holdings Ltd (ASX:LOV), which rose 12.74% or 4.64 points to trade at 41.05 at the close. Meanwhile, Liontown Resources Ltd (ASX:LTR) added 10.71% or 0.09 points to end at 0.93 and Worley Ltd (ASX:WOR) was up 10.55% or 1.33 points to 13.94 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Domino’S Pizza Enterprises Ltd (ASX:DMP), which fell 21.54% or 4.17 points to trade at 15.19 at the close. EBOS Group Ltd (ASX:EBO) declined 14.55% or 5.15 points to end at 30.24 and Woolworths Ltd (ASX:WOW) was down 13.58% or 4.54 points to 28.88.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 644 to 488 and 420 ended unchanged.

Shares in Lovisa Holdings Ltd (ASX:LOV) rose to all time highs; up 12.74% or 4.64 to 41.05. Shares in Domino’S Pizza Enterprises Ltd (ASX:DMP) fell to 5-year lows; losing 21.54% or 4.17 to 15.19. Shares in EBOS Group Ltd (ASX:EBO) fell to 52-week lows; falling 14.55% or 5.15 to 30.24.

The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 2.14% to 10.44.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.08% or 2.68 to $3,430.32 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.30% or 0.19 to hit $63.06 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.34% or 0.23 to trade at $66.47 a barrel.

AUD/USD was unchanged 0.00% to 0.65, while AUD/JPY rose 0.15% to 95.87.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 98.32.
