Equinox Gold hits three-year high as first ore processed at Valentine mine

Equinox Gold (NYSE:EQX [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/EQX]) edges up in Thursday's trading to its highest in more than three years after saying its Valentine gold mine in Newfoundland & Labrador has begun processing ore [https://seekingalpha.com/pr/20214231-equinox-gold-advances-canadian-operations-with-first-ore-processed-at-the-valentine-gold-mine] through its 2.5M metric tons/year facility, and expecting to pour first gold within the next month.

Equinox (NYSE:EQX [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/EQX]) is well positioned to ramp up to nameplate capacity at the Valentine mine during Q2 2026, when it expects to produce 175K-200K oz/year of gold for the first 12 years of its 14-year reserve life.

Once fully operational, Valentine will be Equinox Gold's (EQX [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/EQX]) second largest mine and the largest gold mine in Atlantic Canada; the company obtained the mine through its recent acquisition of Calibre Mining.

Valentine is the second mine Equinox (EQX [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/EQX]) has brought online, following the start-up of its Greenstone project in Ontario, which entered commercial production in November 2024.

Equinox (EQX [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/EQX]) is "entering a pivotal phase of growth, with production and cash flow expected to increase meaningfully as Valentine ramps up and Greenstone approaches nameplate capacity," CEO Darren Hall said.
