Rivian to recall 24,000 U.S. vehicles over hands-free highway assist software error

Rivian (NASDAQ:RIVN [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/RIVN]) is recalling over 24,000 R1S and R1T vehicles from the 2025 model year, Reuters reported [https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/rivian-recall-over-24000-us-vehicles-over-highway-assist-software-issue-nhtsa-2025-09-12/] on Friday.

The recall is due to a software defect that may cause the Hands-Free Highway Assist system to misidentify lead vehicles.

The EV maker has issued an over-the-air software update to fix the problem, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
