An oil facility in Russia’s Bashkortostan region was struck by drones over the weekend, though authorities say production will continue without disruption.
Regional governor Radiy Khabirov said two drones crashed onto the grounds of a plant operated by Bashneft, a Rosneft (OTC:RNFTF [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/RNFTF]) subsidiary and one of the region’s largest refiners. The incident sparked a small fire that was quickly put out and temporarily disrupted technical water supplies, but operations have since resumed.
Khabirov stressed that neither output nor refinery activity would be reduced. He did not attribute responsibility for the strike, though Kyiv has stepped up drone assaults on Russian energy sites in recent months as part of efforts to weaken Moscow’s war effort.
Unofficial footage shared on social media appeared to show a drone impact followed by a large explosion at the site in Ufa, roughly 1,400 kilometers (870 miles) from Ukraine’s border.
