Ramaco Resources (NASDAQ:METC [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/METC]) said Monday its board approved a plan to establish a national strategic stockpile [https://seekingalpha.com/pr/20280029-ramaco-resources-announces-strategic-initiative-to-establish-first-national-critical-minerals] of rare earth elements and critical minerals at its Brook Mine facility in Wyoming.

Ramaco (NASDAQ:METC [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/METC]) said the Strategic Critical Minerals Terminal would be developed in collaboration with a leading commodity structuring and financial advisor to serve both public and private sectors by providing secure and reliable access to rare earth elements and other minerals considered important to U.S. industry and defense.

The company said its first-mover advantage, and significant rare earth and critical mineral resources position it to become an important strategic oxide provider that can address U.S. demand, supply chain vulnerabilities and national security needs.

The Brook Mine is believed to be one of the world's only primary source mines for scandium, gallium, and germanium, and is believed to contain significant quantities of heavy rare earth elements, including dysprosium and terbium, which are essential for permanent magnets and advanced defense systems, as well as light REEs such as neodymium and praseodymium.

Ramaco (METC [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/METC]) -8.8% in Monday's trading, as rare earth stocks plunge [https://seekingalpha.com/news/4508643-rare-earth-miners-slide-as-us-china-trade-truce-set-to-pause-tariffs-export-curbs] after U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent said over the weekend that he believed China would agree to defer certain planned export restrictions on rare earths as part of a U.S.-China trade deal.
