Soybean futures rise as China halts retaliatory tariffs

* Soybean futures (S_1:COM [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/S_1:COM]) rose at the start of the week, extending gains after the US said China agreed to halt retaliatory tariffs following a key summit last week.
* China will suspend all levies announced since March 4 on soybeans and other US agricultural products, including corn, wheat, sorghum, and chicken, according to a fact sheet released by the White House on Saturday.
* U.S. soybean futures rose 0.60% to $1,106.32 on Monday.
* China, meanwhile, is seeking to buy U.S. wheat in what would be the first purchase in more than a year, following last week’s trade truce between the two nations, as per a _Bloomberg News_ report.
* A major grains importer in Asia’s largest economy made inquiries over the weekend for US cargoes loading from December to February, the report said.
