Bitcoin tops $125,000 for first time

Bitcoin (BTC-USD [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/BTC-USD]) rose through $125K for the first time Sunday, hitting $125,598.61 and breaking its previous high of ~$124,480.

The crypto has been up six of the last seven days, fueled by strong inflows into bitcoin ETFs and renewed institutional interest.

A weaker U.S. dollar (DXY [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/DXY]) and the ongoing government shutdown added fuel to the rally, as investors sought alternative assets in uncertain economic terrain. Analysts say that favorable regulatory signals in the U.S. and enthusiasm around gaining mainstream acceptance have also helped sustain momentum.

At least one forecast from Standard Chartered sees bitcoin reaching $135K next.
