Grayscale introduces staking to spot Ethereum, Solana funds in U.S.

Digital asset-focused investment platform Grayscale Investments is updating a few [https://seekingalpha.com/pr/20254869-grayscale-launches-first-staking-spot-crypto-etps-in-u-s] of its spot crypto investment products to include a staking feature that allows investors to earn rewards from blockchain networks without the need to directly own the underlying assets.

The Grayscale Ethereum Trust ETF (NYSEARCA:ETHE [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/ETHE]) and Grayscale Ethereum Mini Trust ETF (NYSEARCA:ETH [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/ETH]) have become the first U.S.-listed spot crypto exchange-traded products to activate staking, the firm said. The Grayscale Solana Trust (OTCQX:GSOL [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/SOL]) will also offer staking, pending regulatory approval of the fund's uplisting as an ETP.

The company will stake assets passively through institutional custodians and a network of validator providers to help secure underlying protocols while supporting long-term network resilience.

Grayscale said it plans to extend the feature to additional products in the future. It will be interesting to see if other ETF issuers follow in the same footsteps, with major token prices [https://seekingalpha.com/news/4501852-bitcoin-tops-125000-for-first-time] hovering around all-time highs.

Staking is the process of locking up crypto in a blockchain network to help validate transactions and receive rewards in return.
