Rig count rises in latest Baker Hughes report

The number of oil and gas drilling rigs in the U.S. gained 2 to 550, Baker Hughes reported [https://rigcount.bakerhughes.com/rig-count-overview] Friday, as rigs targeting crude oil remained rose by 2 to 420, gas rigs stayed flat at 121, and 9 rigs were classified as miscellaneous.

The overall U.S. rig count was down 35 rigs, or 6%, compared to the same time last year.

Rigs targeting oil in the Permian Basin lost 1 to 249, the Eagle Ford fell by 1 to 30, and the Williston Basin remained unchanged at 30 compared to the previous week.
