H&R Block Q4 earnings disappoint, while revenue surprises to the upside

H&R Block (NYSE:HRB [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/HRB]) delivered fiscal Q4 earnings that missed consensus on Tuesday, while Q4 revenue beat. FY2026 guidance for adjusted EPS also trailed the consensus, while its revenue outlook was stronger than expected.

The tax preparation service provider expects full-year 2026 adjusted EPS to be $4.85-$5.00 (midpoint $4.93 vs. $5.15 consensus), revenue of $3.875B-$3.895B (midpoint $3.89B vs. $3.83B consensus), and EBITDA of $1.015B-$1.035B (midpoint $1.025B vs. $1.025B consensus).

"We are pleased to have delivered strong revenue growth in fiscal 2025, propelled by a robust NAC across both Assisted and DIY and increased company-owned Assisted volume, including a landmark year for our small business operations," said Chief Financial Officer Tiffany Mason.

H&R Block (NYSE:HRB [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/HRB]) stock rose 0.7% in after-hours trading.

Q4 adjusted EPS of $2.27, [https://seekingalpha.com/pr/20198606-h-and-r-block-reports-fiscal-2025-results-and-provides-fiscal-2026-outlook] missing the average analyst estimate of $2.83, increased from $1.89 in last year's Q2.

Revenue for the quarter ended June 30, 2025, was $1.11B, exceeding the consensus estimate of $1.07B and rising from $1.06B in the year-ago quarter.

Total operating expenses climbed to $739.7M from $711.8M a year ago. Compensation and benefit expenses increased to $383.1M from $352.9M in Q2 2024, and marketing and advertising expenses fell to $64.3M from $66.6M.

Q4 EBITDA of $413.2M, trailing the $419.1M consensus, grew from $396.8M a year ago.
