Enphase Energy (ENPH [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/ENPH]) retained its spot as the most shorted S&P 500 (SP500 [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/SP500]) stock as a percentage of float in July, followed by Moderna (MRNA [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/MRNA]) and Super Micro Computer (SMCI [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/SMCI]).

_ENPHASE ENERGY SHORTS RAISE BETS_

Enphase Energy (ENPH [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/ENPH]) had 23.22% of its shares sold short as of July-end, up from 20.97% on June 30. Shares of the energy tech firm took a hit after the company issued lower revenue guidance for the third quarter as it foresees a 20% drop in the U.S. residential solar market in the coming year with the end of tax credits for homeowners as part of President Trump's economic legislation. Shares have fallen over 50% year-to-date and 18% in the past month.

_MODERNA'S SALES REMAIN PRESSURED_

Moderna (MRNA [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/MRNA]) had a short interest, representing 18.29% of the float at July-end, down from 19.15% the prior month. Shares slipped in the latter half of July in anticipation of its Q2 earnings report. The COVID-19 vaccine maker managed to narrow its net loss by ~39% Y/Y in the quarter as cost-cutting efforts and other initiatives helped cut expenses. However, top-line remained pressured amid lower COVID vaccine sales. The firm trimmed the upper end of its revenue outlook for the year, citing a timing change for product shipments.

_SUPER MICRO SHORTS CUT BETS_

Super Micro Computer (SMCI [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/SMCI]) had 17.46% of its shares sold short as of July-end, down from 18.58% on June 30 and 18.85% on May 30. The AI company’s shares are up over 51% YTD.
