Taylor Swift's engagement leads to a spike in search interest for Ralph Lauren

Ralph Lauren (NYSE:RL [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/RL]) is seen by Jefferies as a beneficiary of the publicity around the engagement and future wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.

Notably, both Swift and Kelce wore Ralph Lauren (NYSE:RL [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/RL]) outfits in the engagement pictures that went viral on social media on Tuesday. "For a company that states it is not only in the clothing business but in the dreams business, we view this outcome as mission success, and one that supports the strength of RL's brand and likely continued momentum ahead," updated analyst Ashley Helgans.

"We see this as an encouraging catalyst for the brand, especially ahead of Swift's upcoming album release in early October and the start of football season for Kelce. Google Trends data in recent hours shows a significant spike in search interest for Ralph Lauren dresses and Taylor Swift Ralph Lauren," added Helgans.

Taylor Swift has boosted Ralph Lauren (RL [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/RL]) results in the past and been mentioned on several earnings conference calls as a driver of consumer interest in the apparel giant's products.

Jefferies said Ralph Lauren (RL [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/RL]) has had a strong summer of marketing breakthroughs, including the Oak Bluffs campaign, the Polo Bear short film, Wimbledon sponsorship, and the ongoing U.S. Open sponsorship. The firm has a Buy rating on Ralph Lauren (RL [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/RL]).

Shares of Ralph Lauren (RL [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/RL]) added 0.5% in the premarket session to Tuesday's 2.0% gain.
