Paramount’s (PSKY [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/PSKY]) “Regretting You” held onto the No. 1 spot at the domestic box office for a second weekend, earning $8.1 million across 3,425 locations, according to studio estimates compiled by Comscore. The adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel has now reached $27.5 million domestically and more than $50 million worldwide, a solid performance for the fall drama.

Universal’s (CMCSA [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/CMCSA]) “Black Phone 2” remained close behind with another $8 million, bringing its U.S. total to $61.5 million after three weekends. The Blumhouse sequel has topped $104 million globally, powered by returning star Ethan Hawke and a chilling new storyline that expands the original’s supernatural mythology.

In third place, Sony Pictures/Crunchyroll’s (SONY [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/SONY]) “Chainsaw Man — The Movie: Reze Arc” grossed $6 million, raising its North American total to $30.8 million. The anime feature continues to perform well with younger audiences and remains a major IMAX draw worldwide.

Yorgos Lanthimos’s “Bugonia” from Focus Features (CMCSA [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/CMCSA]) expanded nationwide, pulling in $4.8 million and lifting its domestic total to $5.8 million. The dark sci-fi satire starring Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons continues to attract strong interest among arthouse audiences.

Universal’s (CMCSA [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/CMCSA]) “Back to the Future (40th Anniversary)” landed impressively in fifth place with $4.7 million from 2,290 theaters, a per-theater average of $2,052, as fans flocked to see the beloved 1985 classic on the big screen once again. The re-release boosts the film’s lifetime North American total to $221.7 million.

NEW OPENERS

Briarcliff’s animated family film “Stitch Head” debuted in eighth place with $2.1 million from 2,162 locations. The stop-motion-styled adventure, about a forgotten creature in a castle of misfit inventions, marks a modest start but could benefit from strong word of mouth.

In limited release, Variance’s “Baahubali: The Epic”, a condensed and remastered version of S.S. Rajamouli’s two-part saga, opened to $837,000 from 448 theaters, while IFC’s thriller “Violent Ends” earned $120,000 from 700 screens.

Trafalgar and Sony Music Vision’s “Depeche Mode M” continues its successful run, surpassing $1 million in North America and $1.6 million globally since debuting October 28.

IMAX BOOSTS

IMAX (IMAX [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/IMAX]) reported a robust $9 million global weekend, with _Depeche Mode M_, _Chainsaw Man — The Movie: Reze Arc_, and _Back to the Future (40th Anniversary)_ among the top contributors. IMAX concluded October up 55 percent year-over-year at the North American box office.
