Frontier meets with Spirit Air over Spirit's rebuilding efforts - report

Spirit Aviation (NYSE:FLYY [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/FLYY]) has met with Frontier Group (NASDAQ:ULCC [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/ULCC]) over the airline's rebuilding efforts less than six months after returning from bankruptcy.

Spirit (NYSE:FLYY [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/FLYY]) Chairman Robert Milton met with Frontier (NASDAQ:ULCC [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/ULCC]) Chairman Bill Franke earlier this week, according to a Bloomberg report [https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-08-28/frontier-air-chairman-said-to-meet-with-spirit-air-executives]on Thursday, which cited a person familiar with the matter.

The talks focused on Spirit's (NYSE:FLYY [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/FLYY]) rebuilding efforts and the state of the US airline industry, according to the report. There was no talk about an acquisition of Spirit (FLYY [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/FLYY]).

Spirit didn’t respond to requests for comment from Bloomberg.

Spirit (FLYY [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/FLYY]) warned earlier this month that without a cash infusion, it won’t be able to comply with its debt obligations, and is unlikely to survive for another year. [https://seekingalpha.com/news/4484153-spirit-aviations-woes-opens-runway-for-competitors]

The talks between Spirit (FLYY [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/FLYY]) and Frontier (NASDAQ:ULCC [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/ULCC]) come after Spirit rejected a takeover offer [https://seekingalpha.com/news/4399959-spirit-airlines-rejects-frontiers-merger-proposal]from Frontier in January, following its November bankruptcy filing.

Shares of Spirit rose 3.2% on Friday.
