Monte dei Paschi secures majority of Mediobanca - report

Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena (OTCPK:BMDPF [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/BMDPF]) has acquired 62% of Mediobanca (OTCPK:MDIBF [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/MDIBF]) (OTCPK:MDIBY [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/MDIBY]), paving the way for the latter's CEO Alberto Nagel to step down, Reuters reported [https://www.reuters.com/business/finance/monte-dei-paschi-secures-62-mediobanca-paving-way-ceo-nagels-exit-2025-09-08/], citing data by Borsa Italiana.

Mediobanca's CEO was set to leave his post if Monte dei Paschi secured a majority of the merchant bank's capital, the newswire had reported last week [https://www.reuters.com/business/finance/mediobanca-fights-against-monte-dei-paschi-bid-2025-09-04/].

The tender offer for Mediobanca shares will run for a further week from September 16, according to the September 8 report by Reuters.
