Brighthouse Financial surges after report of Aquarian $65-$70/share offer

Brighthouse Financial (NASDAQ:BHF [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/BHF]) jumped 24% after a report that a consortium led by insurer Aquarian Holdings is in advanced discussions to pay $65 to $70 a share for Brighthouse.

Brighthouse (NASDAQ:BHF [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/BHF]) may decide as soon as next week to go forward with a sale or to remain a standalone company, according to a Bloomberg report [https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-09-19/aquarian-discusses-65-70-per-share-offer-for-brighthouse]on Friday, which cited people familiar with the matter. Aquarian is working with co-investors including Mubadala Capital and the Qatar Investment Authority.

Brighthouse declined to comment to Bloomberg. Aquarian didn’t immediately respond to request for comment.

The latest update comes after the Financial Times reported earlier this month that Aquarian was said to be in late-stage discussions [https://seekingalpha.com/news/4493296-brighthouse-stock-jumps-on-news-about-progress-in-aquarians-intended-acquisition] with investors for financing its takeover of the Brighthouse (NASDAQ:BHF [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/BHF]).
