Robinhood to look for M&A opportunities in prediction markets - report

Robinhood Markets (NASDAQ:HOOD [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/HOOD]) will be looking for acquisition opportunities in the prediction markets space, Reuters reported [https://www.reuters.com/business/robinhood-open-deals-grow-prediction-markets-business-exec-says-2025-10-13/], citing JB Mackenzie, vice president and general manager of futures and international at the trading platform.

Mackenzie reportedly told Reuters in an interview that Robinhood may also consider other avenues for growth, including a joint venture or a partnership, instead of an acquisition.

Prediction markets gained popularity during the U.S. presidential election last year, and have since evolved into an asset class, the October 13 report noted.

Last week, Intercontinental Exchange (ICE [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/ICE]) said [https://seekingalpha.com/news/4502282-intercontinental-exchange-confirms-deal-to-invest-up-to-2b-in-polymarket] it has agreed to invest up to $2B in prediction market Polymarket.

Late last month, Robinhood was said to be looking to expand [https://seekingalpha.com/news/4500240-robinhood-explores-launching-prediction-markets-abroad---report] its prediction markets beyond the U.S., a move that would increase its presence in a hot yet controversial industry.

The news comes as the company is said to be looking to evolve from a retail trading platform into a full-fledged financial services firm.
