Less than 12 hours after more than 10,000 Air Canada (OTCQX:ACDVF [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/ACDVF]) flight attendants walked off their jobs, the Canadian government moved to end the strike by seeking the intervention of an independent labor board.

Jobs Minister Patty Hajdu said Saturday she had asked Canada's Industrial Relations Board to impose binding arbitration and order both parties to end the labor dispute immediately.

"I have exercised my authorities under Section 107 of the Canadian Labor Code to direct the Canada Industrial Relations Board to order the parties to resume [https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/ohioans-came-strong-trump-now-100018979.html] and continue their operations and duties in order to secure industrial peace and protect the interests of Canada, Canadians, and the economy," Reuters reported, quoting the minister.

Early Saturday, Air Canada (OTCQX:ACDVF [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/ACDVF]) and its low-cost affiliate Air Canada Rouge suspended operations as flight attendants represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPF) started a strike after failing to reach a deal that would increase their wages.
