Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and President Trump are planning further talks after holding a “productive call” but failing to clinch a trade deal, the WSJ reports. “We expect the Canadian dollar to remain under pressure in the near-term as the trade deal with the U.S. remains the main risk on the horizon,” TD Securities strategists say in a note. Meanwhile, Canada’s lower-than-expected July inflation data earlier this week boosted expectations for another rate cut by year-end.
