European defense stocks slid after President Trump said he would push for a meeting between Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky and Russia’s Vladimir Putin in a bid to end the war in Ukraine. The U.K.’s Babcock is down more than 5% and Germany’s Rheinmetall more than 4%. Trump urged Zelensky and Putin to meet face to face with him at a peace conference, in what would be the first meeting between the Ukrainian and Russian leaders since 2019, and European officials discussed security guarantees for Ukraine.
