Abu Dhabi’s XRG in talks to invest in YPF's Argentina LNG project - Bloomberg

The XRG overseas unit of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company is in talks to invest [https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-10-27/abu-dhabi-s-xrg-is-in-talks-to-invest-in-argentina-lng-project] in a liquefied natural gas project being developed by Argentina's YPF (NYSE:YPF [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/YPF]) to start exporting LNG, Bloomberg reported Monday.

State-run YPF (NYSE:YPF [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/YPF]) is developing the floating terminal project, which is designed to eventually produce 28 million tons/year of LNG, as Argentina tries to tap global LNG demand and accelerate output of vast natural gas reserves in the Vaca Muerta shale basin.

Shell (SHEL [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/SHEL]) and Eni (E [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/E]) are working with YPF (YPF [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/YPF]) on the project, but final investment decisions have not yet been made.

XRG already has acquired a stake in NextDecade's Rio Grande LNG project to be built on the Texas Gulf coast and is in the process of taking over Germany's Covestro as it bets on continued demand for gas and chemicals in the energy transition, but it also recently dropped a planned $19 billion acquisition of Australia's Santos.

On Monday, YPF's (YPF [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/YPF]) ADRs traded in New York closed +23.7% after libertarian President Javier Milei’s party prevailed in Argentina's midterm legislative elections.
