Korean Air will purchase of 103 Boeing (BA [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/BA]) aircraft valued at $36.2 billion, the centerpiece of a series of U.S. export deals secured during President Donald Trump’s visit to the Republic of Korea.
The agreement -- one of Boeing’s (BA [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/BA]) largest-ever commercial orders -- will support an estimated 135,000 American jobs and anchor more than $52 billion in total deals signed during the president’s Indo-Pacific tour, the White House said [https://www.whitehouse.gov/fact-sheets/2025/10/fact-sheet-president-donald-j-trump-brings-home-more-billion-dollar-deals-during-state-visit-to-the-republic-of-korea/] Wednesday.
Complementing the aircraft purchase, GE Aerospace (GE [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/GE]) secured a $13.7 billion agreement to supply state-of-the-art jet engines for Korean Air’s new fleet. The engines are part of GE’s latest generation of fuel-efficient models, designed to lower emissions and operating costs.
L3HARRIS TO EQUIP SOUTH KOREAN AIR FORCE
The Republic of Korea Air Force selected U.S. defense contractor L3Harris Technologies (LHX [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/LHX]) to develop its next-generation Airborne Warning and Control (AWACS) aircraft under a $2.3 billion contract. The program is expected to support more than 6,000 American jobs and enhance the interoperability of U.S. and South Korean air defense systems, the White House said.
RARE EARTH PARTNERSHIP
ReElement Technologies, an American company specializing in advanced materials recycling and separation, will partner with POSCO International (PKX [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/PKX]) to establish a U.S.-based rare earth refining and magnet production complex.
The joint venture aims to create a vertically integrated supply chain for high-value mobility magnets used in electric vehicles and clean energy technologies, an effort consistent with Washington’s push to reduce dependence on Chinese sources of rare earth elements.
The aerospace and defense agreements were among a series of deals with the Republic of Korea that secured more than $52 billion in U.S. exports and partnerships aimed at bolstering U.S. manufacturing, energy and technology leadership, the White House said.
