EV maker Lucid surged before Wednesday's stock market open amid reports that Uber Technologies plans to launch its robotaxi service, using Lucid vehicles, in the Bay Area sometime in 2026. Uber announced in July it was making a "multi-hundred-million dollar investments" in both Nuro and Lucid to develop a new robotaxi service, with plans to deploy 20,000 or more Lucid electric-vehicles equipped with Nuro's self-driving system over the next six years. Uber is reportedly investing $300 million in Lucid as part of the deal.
