Stock futures edged up in early trading on Wednesday, supported by investor optimism after the S&P 500 and Nasdaq ended at fresh record highs, fueled by July’s softer inflation readings.
Here are some of Wednesday's biggest stock movers:
BIGGEST STOCK GAINERS
* INTAPP (NASDAQ:INTA [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/INTA]) +26% - Shares jumped after posting strong FQ4 results that topped expectations. Revenue grew 18.1% Y/Y, fueled by a 27% increase in SaaS revenue and a 29% rise in Cloud ARR, now representing 79% of total ARR. Total ARR increased 20% to $485.4M. The company also unveiled a $150M stock buyback program, further boosting investor confidence.
* VENTURE GLOBAL (NYSE:VG [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/VG]) +8% - Shares surged after reporting Q2 results that beat expectations on both profit and revenue, driven by a 149% surge in LNG sales volumes. Revenue jumped 180% Y/Y to $3.1B, with core profit at $1.0B, supported by strong output from the Plaquemines and Calcasieu Pass projects. The company reaffirmed its FY2025 adjusted EBITDA guidance of $6.4B–$6.8B and expects to export 227–240 cargoes from Plaquemines and 144–149 from Calcasieu Pass. Adding to the positive momentum, Venture Global won an arbitration dispute with Shell (SHEL [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/SHEL]) over missed LNG deliveries, validating its contractual approach and reinforcing investor confidence in its growth trajectory.
* ELBIT SYSTEMS (NASDAQ:ESLT [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/ESLT]) +5% – Shares rose after a Q2 earnings beat and news of a $1.64B contract to supply a European country with defense solutions over five years. Deliverables include long-range precision strike artillery-rocket systems, unmanned reconnaissance and loitering aerial combat systems, and advanced ISTAR capabilities such as SIGINT, COMINT, and electronic warfare. The company also secured ~$260M in contracts from Israel’s Ministry of Defense and reported an order backlog of $23.8B.
BIGGEST STOCK LOSERS
* CAVA GROUP (NYSE:CAVA [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/CAVA]) -23% – Shares tumbled after mixed Q2 results, with same-restaurant sales up just 2.1%, much below the consensus of +6.1%, driven mainly by menu pricing and product mix, while guest traffic was flat. Restaurant-level profit margin slipped 20 bps Y/Y to 26.3% due to higher costs from launching grilled steak and wage investments, partly offset by sales leverage. For 2025, the company now sees comparable sales growth of +4% to +6% (prior +6% to +8%), reaffirmed adjusted EBITDA guidance of $152M–$158M, and lowered its outlook for net new restaurant openings to 64–68 from prior guidance.
* LUMINAR TECHNOLOGIES (NASDAQ:LAZR [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/LAZR]) -16% – Shares sank after Q2 results missed expectations and the company cut its FY2025 revenue outlook to $67M–$74M from $82M–$90M, below the $86.3M consensus, citing lower vehicle production in H2 and the wind-down of non-core businesses. Gross loss guidance of $(5M)–$(10M) was maintained but is expected to be toward the higher end due to ending a high-margin data contract. Q3 revenue is projected at $17M–$19M, missing the consensus of $22.3M.
* COREWEAVE (NASDAQ:CRWV [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/CRWV]) -9% – Shares fell despite strong Q2 revenue growth, as the adjusted loss per share of $0.60 was wider than the $0.49 expected. Revenue came in at $1.21B vs. $1.08B consensus, while adjusted operating income was $199.78M vs. $162.8M expected. The company said it is rapidly scaling to meet surging AI demand, highlighting its AI cloud platform’s performance and its position as the first to offer the full Blackwell GPU portfolio at scale.
