Rambus slides amid mixed Q3 results

Rambus (NASDAQ:RMBS [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/RMBS]) shares slid 5% in extended trading on Monday after the memory-linked semiconductor company reported mixed third-quarter results compared to Wall Street's expectations.

For the period ending Sept. 30, Rambus said it earned $0.44 per share, below the $0.63 per share estimate. Revenue, however, topped estimates, coming in at $178.51M for the period, above the $176M estimate.

“Rambus delivered a very strong third quarter, with record product revenue and excellent cash from operations, while continuing to execute on our strategic roadmap,” said Rambus President and CEO Luc Seraphin in a statement. “Sustained DDR5 product leadership and ramping contributions from new products put us on track to deliver full-year product revenue growth that outpaces the market. Leveraging our core expertise in signal- and power-integrity, we are well positioned amid strong secular trends in data center and AI to drive long-term profitable growth.”

The company will provide guidance on its earnings call, but product revenue is expected to be between $94M and $100M. Licensed billings are forecast to be between $60M and $66M. Contract and other revenue is forecast to be between $25M and $31M, while adjusted operating costs are expected to be between $99M and $103M. Rambus will host a conference call at 5 p.m. EST to discuss the results.
