Venture Global (NYSE:VG [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/VG]) has asked the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for permission [https://www.reuters.com/business/energy/venture-global-ready-introduce-natural-gas-into-final-part-plaquemines-lng-plant-2025-10-20/] to introduce natural gas by Thursday into the final block of its Plaquemines LNG export plant in Louisiana, Reuters reported late Monday, citing a regulatory filing.
If it wins permission, Venture Global (NYSE:VG [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/VG]) will soon be producing LNG from its entire Plaquemines plant, more than a year ahead of when it is expected to provide its first set of long-term customers with their contracted amounts of gas.
In September, Plaquemines, the second largest LNG plant in the U.S., was responsible for more than 17% of total U.S. exports, according to financial firm LSEG, and completion of the facility would bring it to its full capacity of 27.2 million metric tons/year.
The company has been producing at Plaquemines and selling liquefied natural gas on the spot market since December 2024, and clients are concerned [https://seekingalpha.com/news/4505256-venture-global-seeks-to-reassure-client-suspicions-over-lng-contracts---ft] about a possible repeat of its actions in its first LNG plant, in Calcasieu Pass, where it delayed the official commissioning of the facility for years while selling LNG produced there on the spot market.
