Arm Holdings (NASDAQ:ARM [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/ARM]) has roped in Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/AMZN]) artificial intelligence chip director Rami Sinno as the British semiconductor designer moves ahead with its plans to build its own complete chips, _Reuters _reported, citing a person familiar with the matter.

Sinno played a key role in the development of Amazon's (NASDAQ:AMZN [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/AMZN]) homegrown AI chips Trainium and Inferentia, which are designed to help build and run large AI applications.

Arm (NASDAQ:ARM [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/ARM]), majority owned by SoftBank (OTCPK:SFTBY [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/SFTBY]), designs and licenses the core architecture for processors developed by companies like Apple (AAPL [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/AAPL]) and Nvidia (NVDA [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/NVDA]).

In July, Arm's (ARM [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/ARM]) CEO Rene Haas said it ramped up investment into R&D as it was weighing [https://seekingalpha.com/article/4806452-arm-holdings-plc-arm-q1-2026-earnings-call-transcript] developing its own chips. "We are continuing to explore the possibility of moving beyond our current platform into additional compute to subsystems, chiplets and potentially full-end solutions."
