* DeepSeek (DEEPSEEK [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/DEEPSEEK]) is developing an artificial intelligence model with more advanced AI agent features to compete with U.S. rivals like OpenAI, _Bloomberg_ reported on Thursday.
* The Hangzhou-based startup is building an AI model that’s designed to carry out multi-step actions on a person’s behalf with minimal direction from the user, the report said. The system is also meant to learn and improve based on its prior actions.
* The Chinese startup, which stunned the world in January, officially launched its updated DeepSeek-V3.1 AI model last month, which surpasses its R1 model on key benchmarks.
* Chinese AI firms, including DeepSeek, have ramped up development of advanced language models. The rivalry highlights escalating tech tensions, with China aiming to challenge U.S. dominance in the global AI race.
