_Seeking Alpha's roundup of statements, announcements, and remarks that could impact markets, sectors, or individual stocks. _
* President Trump announced plans to place tariffs on movies and furniture made outside the U.S.
"Our movie making business has been stolen from the United States of America, by other Countries, just like stealing 'candy from a baby.' California, with its weak and incompetent Governor, has been particularly hard hit! Therefore, in order to solve this long time, never ending problem, I will be imposing a 100% Tariff on any and all movies that are made outside of the United States," Trump said in a Truth Social post [https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/115287691323395767] on Monday.
"In order to make North Carolina, which has completely lost its furniture business to China, and other Countries, GREAT again, I will be imposing substantial Tariffs on any Country that does not make its furniture in the United States. Details to follow!!!," Trump said in a second post [https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/115287723938349086].

* Cleveland Federal Reserve President Beth Hammack said she is worried that the Fed has been missing the inflation side of its mandate.
“On the inflation side right now, I continue to be worried about where we are from an inflation perspective,” Hammack told CNBC [https://www.cnbc.com/2025/09/29/cleveland-feds-beth-hammack-on-interest-rates-inflation-and-tariffs.html].
“We have been missing our mandate on the inflation side, our objective of 2%, for more than 4½ years and I continue to see that we have pressure in inflation both in the headline, in the core, and particularly, where I am worried about it, is I’m seeing it in the services,” Hammock said, adding that it was "a challenging time for monetary policy."
* Mark Chalmers, CEO of uranium and rare earths miner Energy Fuels (NYSE:UUUU [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/UUUU]), said the U.S. government needs to make more deals to diversify the country's supply chain for critical minerals.
Chalmers added the government's plan to take an equity stake in MP Materials (NYSE:MP [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/MP]) was necessary to ensure the country wasn't dependent on a foreign nation for its supply.
“One company doesn’t fix it,” Chalmers told CNBC [https://www.cnbc.com/2025/09/28/mp-materials-lithium-americas-lac-rare-earth-trump-stake.html], referring to the MP Materials deal. “You have to have multiple deals to ensure that you don’t just have the company risk, because all companies aren’t going to deliver.”
Chalmers noted that his company, which has established a rare earths unit, is focused on “providing a product that is attractive to the U.S government."
“The government cannot bet on one horse — it just doesn’t make sense,” he added. “We spend a lot of time in D.C. making sure they understand the merits of our strategy."
