Perplexity CEO uses AI for investor pitches, ditches traditional decks

Artificial-intelligence engine start-up Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas, in an interview, said he uses AI instead of pitch decks for investor presentations.

"Famously, the Series A was the only time I made a pitch deck," Aravind Srinivas, the cofounder and CEO of Perplexity, said in an interview with Berkeley Haas released on Saturday.

Pitch decks are slideshows that give investors and customers key details about a company's founders, its product, and its financial performance.

"I just write a memo and I tell them you can do a Q&A and ask whatever you want," Srinivas said, referring to potential investors. "And anything else that is not internal data, you can ask Perplexity. Like, it already knows everything."

Srinivas cofounded Perplexity in 2022 after working as a researcher at Google's (GOOG [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/GOOG]) DeepMind and OpenAI (OPENAI [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/OPENAI]), and the startup has attracted funding from investors including SoftBank (OTCPK:SFTBY [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/SFTBY]), Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/NVDA]), and Jeff Bezos (AMZN [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/AMZN]).
