Google to park $10 billion for data center and AI hub in India

Google (NASDAQ:GOOG [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/GOOG]) will invest $10 billion for building a massive data center and artificial intelligence hub in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, marking its largest commitment in India to date.

This will be Google's (NASDAQ:GOOGL [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/GOOGL]) largest such investment in India, and the facility will have a 1-gigawatt capacity, integrating advanced AI infrastructure, large-scale energy resources, and an expanded fiber-optic network,_ Reuters_ reported, citing the southern Indian state government.

A formal agreement between the state and the U.S. tech giant will be signed on Tuesday, the minister added.

The data center campus will span three sites around Visakhapatnam, with operations expected to start in July 2028. The project will likely create 188,000 direct and indirect jobs.

Google (NASDAQ:GOOG [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/GOOG]) is expected to benefit from tax certainty and separate, state-subsidized power grids for data center operations.
