Google in early-stage talks to raise investment in Anthropic - report

Google (GOOG [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/GOOG]) (GOOG [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/GOOG]) is currently in early-stage discussions to significantly increase its investment in Anthropic—an AI startup known for its Claude language models, _Business Insider_ reported, citing sources familiar with the matter.

The new round of funding could value Anthropic (ANTHRO [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/ANTHRO]) at more than $350 billion, the report [https://www.businessinsider.com/google-deepen-investment-in-ai-anthropic-2025-11] said.

The potential new deal, which is still being negotiated, may also take the form of a priced funding round early next year, a convertible note, or a strategic investment where Google (GOOG [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/GOOG]) offers Anthropic (ANTHRO [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/ANTHRO]) additional cloud computing services, the sources added.

Anthropic (ANTHRO [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/ANTHRO]) and Google (GOOG [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/GOOG]) did not immediately respond to Seeking Alpha's request for comment.

A couple of weeks back, the two companies announced a deal [https://seekingalpha.com/news/4507912-anthropic-confirms-expanded-deal-with-google-for-cloud-chip-use] that will see Anthropic (ANTHRO [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/ANTHRO]) use up to one million of Google's (GOOG [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/GOOG]) tensor processing unit processors.

The move seems to be part of Google's (GOOG [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/GOOG]) broader strategy to keep pace with rival investments by Microsoft (MSFT [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/MSFT]) and Nvidia (NVDA [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/NVDA]) in OpenAI (OPENAI [https://seekingalpha.com/symbol/OPENAI]).
