Samsung boosts advanced chip output after record high sales

STORY: Samsung Electronics said Thursday (October 30) it will mass produce its most advanced memory chip to capitalize on the AI boom. :: Samsung:: FileIt expects demand for these chips to far outstrip the company's supply amid a global AI infrastructure build-out.The tech giant posted record quarterly revenue from its key memory chip business on Thursday.It’s an impressive turnaround after disappointing performances in the past several quarters - where it had struggled to catch up with competitors in the AI chip race. The high-bandwidth memory - or HBM - chips are a key building block in artificial intelligence.As well as boosting production, Samsung will sharply increase capital spending next year to meet soaring demand.Which the world’s top chipmaker predicted would be "much stronger and faster than usual”, accelerating price increases. :: SK HynixSamsung's comments echo the robust outlook offered by rival SK Hynix, which has already sold out all its chips for next year.
