オーストラリアの貿易黒字は9月に劇的に拡大し、39億4000万豪ドルに達した。この数字は、8月に記録された修正後の黒字11億1000万豪ドルを大幅に上回り、市場予想の38億5000万豪ドルも容易に上回った。

大幅な改善は主に輸出の 7.9% 増加によって促進されました。この輸出ブームは金の出荷量の増加によって牽引され、月を通しての地金価格の上昇によって後押しされました。一方、輸入も1.1％増加し、年末商戦を控えた堅調な内需を背景に過去最高水準を記録した。
